Salary : £27,500 – 35,000

This role sits within the bookkeeping team of an independent and growing accountancy firm, supporting a varied portfolio of clients with their day-to-day financial records. You will take ownership of your own client work, build relationships with the businesses you support and become a regular point of contact for bookkeeping queries.

The position would suit someone with previous accountancy practice experience who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to continue developing their technical knowledge. If you are already studying AAT, the firm will provide support to help you complete your qualification.

Client Bookkeeper – About The Role

You will be responsible for providing day-to-day bookkeeping support to a portfolio of clients, ensuring their financial records are maintained accurately and completed within agreed deadlines.

Working with a range of businesses, you will have regular client contact and become familiar with their individual requirements. Alongside your existing experience, you will have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and continue progressing towards AAT qualification. Key responsibilities:

  • Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of practice clients
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Process sales and purchase invoices, payments and receipts
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Assist with VAT returns and other bookkeeping-related deadlines
  • Resolve day-to-day client queries
  • Communicate with clients regarding outstanding information
  • Ensure bookkeeping work is completed accurately and on time
  • Assist the wider accounts team where required

The successful Client Bookkeeper will have:

  • Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice
  • Experience managing bookkeeping for multiple clients
  • Good understanding of day-to-day bookkeeping processes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Confident communication skills and a professional approach
  • AAT studies already underway would be preferred
  • Keen to continue developing within practice
  • Good IT and accounting software skills
