Audit Assistant Manager – About The Role
You will take responsibility for leading a range of audit assignments, overseeing delivery on smaller and less complex engagements while supporting managers and partners on more technical and higher-risk clients.
The role offers increasing responsibility across the full audit lifecycle, including planning, fieldwork, completion, and file review, with a focus on building the skills required to manage a full client portfolio in the future. Key responsibilities:
- Lead audit assignments on smaller and less complex clients
- Support managers and partners on larger and more technical audits
- Oversee audit fieldwork and coordinate assignment delivery
- Review audit work and ensure compliance with FRS 102 and UK GAAP
- Act as a key client contact for day-to-day audit matters
- Supervise, review, and support junior team members
- Assist with planning, budgeting, and completion stages
- Monitor progress, deadlines, and assignment delivery
- Contribute to improving audit quality and processes
- Develop capability to manage own portfolio of clients over time
The successful Audit Assistant Manager will have:
- ACA or ACCA qualified with 2 years post qualification experience
- Strong UK external audit experience within practice
- Experience supervising or reviewing audit work
- Good technical knowledge of FRS 102 and UK GAAP
- Confident client communication skills
- Strong organisational and leadership potential
- Ability to manage multiple assignments
- Commercial awareness and proactive mindset
