Senior Indirect Tax Manager

About You        

You will either be an experienced Chartered Tax Advisor, ex-customs and excise, or hold a similar qualification or experience in indirect tax. An energetic and proactive individual you will be keen to take on responsibility, drive change and use your initiative. You will be keen to develop world class supply chain tax planning skills and will use effective communication skills across all functions in order to drive this forward.

About The Role   

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Tax, key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all aspects of the group’s UK and European indirect tax affairs, including VAT, Intrastats, Excise duties and IPT. This involves managing the relationship with external advisors and government agencies, including inspection visits, as well as significant team working with UK Shared Service Centre and Supply Chain & Quality teams.
  • Review and submit UK and European VAT returns (largely based on data automatically generated by SAP), and provide day-to-day VAT support for colleagues.
  • Take responsibility for designing and maintaining relevant group SAP/flows and documentation.
  • Act as prime tax liaison with IT to ensure the tax requirements are considered for correct indirect tax reporting and collection
  • Become involved in developing, implementing and maintaining global transfer pricing policies.
  • Advise the business on all indirect issues (including customs duties) on international expansion and major outsourcing/contractual matters.  Review of M&A activity to ensure optimal indirect tax treatment for the Group
  • An international co-ordination and tax technical role taking responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of a tax-efficient global supply chain, working with other members of the Global Tax & Treasury team,  external advisors, government agencies,  the Supply Chain & Quality function, and  the wider finance team and other stakeholders.   Lead for setting transfer pricing policies, obtaining relevant studies and associated documentation
