Meet the Management Team

Greg Thorpe 

Greg Thorpe

Greg started his career in recruitment in 1985, joining Accountancy Personnel straight from College. His career rapidly developed and he successfully managed Basingstoke, Woking and the flagship Guildford offices before Accountancy Personnel merged with a national recruitment business. It was at this point that Greg founded Howett Thorpe, which was originally based in Farnborough. Since then the client and candidate base as remained purely within the finance sector – but has grown geographically to reach from Southampton on the coast to the Thames Valley and from Basingstoke to Crawley. Many clients have remained with Howett Thorpe from over the last 20 years with many of Greg’s placed candidates now being prominent Finance Directors. Greg is a high profile member of both the local business community and the recruitment world and is often asked to comment on recruitment trends by professional publications. Greg will provide News articles for our website on topic, commercial matters.

Caterina Russo

Caterina is the Operations Director of Howett Thorpe and also overseas the Contract, Interim and Temporary Team and Public Practice Division. With over 10 years financial recruitment experience, gained within Public Practice, Public Sector and Commerce, Caterina offers a genuine and direct service to both clients and candidates. With extensive management exposure Caterina enjoys motivating and coaching trainees and experienced consultants so that individuals maximise potential and achieve goals. Caterina joined Howett Thorpe in 2002 and since her appointment to Operational Director in 2005, has been instrumental in increasing the awareness of Howett Thorpe in the Thames Valley and North Surrey Markets, while maintaining the company’s core values.

Julia James

Julia James

Julia holds responsibility for both the day to day running of the office and the management of the Commercial Permanent Division.
Having started her career in finance Julia joined Howett Thorpe 9 years ago when she re-approached the Managing Director with the aim of securing a new role. Since making the decision to leave finance and begin a new career in the company Julia has progressed from the role of recruitment consultant to Office Manager and senior member of the Commercial permanent Team. Julia leads from the front and is well respected both by the people she deals with and her team members and provides a unique service ensuring that both our client and candidates are dealt with as individuals.  Her knowledge in the field of financial recruitment and management of retained assignments and advertising campaigns is well recognized in the qualified recruitment market. Local business centres that Julia has recruited in include Guildford, Woking, Camberley Basingstoke and, of course Farnham.

Kathryn Lee

Kathryn Lee

With 9 years experience in recruitment Kathryn has specialised in Public Practice recruitment for 7 years. She commenced her career in HR consultancy before transferring to Public Practice recruitment. She held a regional management role specialising in Partner and Senior Qualified assignments in the North East for several years before relocating to  Surrey. Having briefly and successfully run a senior commercial region for a national recruitment business she has returned to Practice Public and now manages retained assignments, advertising campaigns and senior recruitment for firms in this area. Kathryn has developed an excellent reputation for providing impartial advice to ‘first move’ qualified individuals from Public Practice and providing Interview and CV writing advice to candidates at all levels.
